One may wonder why eyebrows are there for. They are very important for our eyes as they protect us from sweat, dust, dirt or snow. They act like a filter and keep debris and moisture out of our eyes. The shape of forehead and the eyebrows above our eyes work together with our eyelids and eyelashes to give protection to our eyes.

Just imagine how our face should be without eyebrows. There is less chance for your friends to recognise you without eyebrows. They are very important part for facial recognition. Recent research in California State University has asked participants to recognise pictures of two faces show me one after another. The task is to find out whether the picture is of same people are different. Only the eyebrows were removed. The shocking result was that many were unable to identify that both the pictures are of the same person.

Eyebrows are also important for non verbal communication. A wide - eyed look means excitement, frowning eyebrow means discontent. They are able to speak volumes. Non verbal facial expression and body posture are part of our daily communication. Your eyebrows have the tendency to reflect your mood.
