A simple eye examination can diagnose black eye. Ophthalmologist checks the vision by waving one of his fingers around the eyes. He notices the movement of eyes. Using torchlight, he examines the normal dilation of pupil. He also examines the bone around our eyes to see whether there is any fractured bone. If he suspects so, a CT scan or X-ray is taken.

Treatment For Black Eyes

A simple Black eye can be treated easily at home. Ice pack is applied on the swollen area to ease the pain and reduce swelling. It is done once in every couple of hours. If ice pack is not available we can use ice cubes wrapped around a towel or a soft cloth. You should not try to remove the skin on the black eye as it can infect the area. Protect the area from further injury. Consult your ophthalmologist if the area does not get back to normal after few days.
