Treatment for blepharospasm:

There are some options to treat this condition and one of the best is botulinum toxin injections, which is a muscle relaxing substance. This medicine is injected in the muscles near the eye with the help of a slender needle. The spasms present begin to disappear after two weeks after the procedure and it lasts about three months.

If the condition does not get eased after the injection, there are some medications which are used to ease this condition. Consult your ophthalmologist to know the right medicine for you. If the medications do not have a positive effect on body, surgery is the only option. For essential blepharospasm, there are two common types of surgeries. The first type removes the facial muscles causing spasms and the second type removes the nerve responsible for causing spasm.

Treatment for hemifacial spasm:

Botulinum toxin injection is used to treat hemifacial spasm and is found effective. They also relax the nerve associated with hemifacial spasm. Sometimes drug treatments are used but it is not so effective when compared to the injections. Surgery is a rare procedure done to relieve nerve pressure.

Consult your ophthalmologist to know more about the procedures.
