March is known for workplace eye wellness month. Technology has become inevitable and it is employed in every place of work. The usage of computers, laptops and other digital devices like mobile phones has increased. They have become a part of our daily work routine along with eye strain, which continues to rise. Increased usage of digital devices has led to eye strain from uninterrupted focus on digital screens.

Workers also suffer from computer vision syndrome, which is a vision related problem caused by usage of computer for a prolonged period. It also causes eye twitching and physical fatigue and if you notice that you are suffering from this condition, it is recommended to visit a doctor as soon as possible.

There are also some things which a person can do to avoid this syndrome. The first step is to visit an eye doctor and get the eyes checked. It is also one of the ways to keep the eyes healthy and also inform the doctor if you are a heavy user of electronic instruments. If you work on a computer for a longer time, take break for 30 seconds every twenty minutes and blink your eyes. This moisturizes the eyes and prevents dry eyes. It is also recommended to take min breaks for 15 minutes in regular time interval, if you are working for a day long. Stretch up and move around giving some rest to your eyes. Sometimes computer eyewear is also prescribed if you are a heavy electronic user.
