LASIK: Unlocking Crystal Clear Vision through Advanced Surgical Methods

Posted by Accuspire on Jun 2nd 2023

It is evident that LASIK is one of the most popular vision correcting surgery. It can totally correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. It can also eliminate the need for contact lenses or power glasses.

It usually takes fifteen minutes or less to perform a LASIK surgery. When the treatment is completed the flap of the cornea is returned to its correct position. Numbing drops are applied on eyes and a small instrument is used to keep the eyes open. A bladed surgical tool called microkeratome is used to create the desired flap on eyes. One may feel light pressure on eyes as suction is placed near the eyes.

The cornea is then reshaped by folding the flap back to expose the surgical area. You may be asked to look at a point inside the laser and the surgeon observes the eye through a microscope. The excimer laser is focused with the exact amount of energy needed.

There are various types of LASIK surgery depending on the condition of the eye.

Wavefront - Optimized LASIK:

Wave front optimized LASIK requires detailed and accurate measurement of the corneal curvature. It is done to maintain the natural aspheric shape of eyes front portion or surface. It completely reduces spherical aberration which develops with other type of laser refractive surgery.

Wavefront - Guided LASIK:

Wavefront Guided LASIK is customized completely according to the eye anatomy and vision needs. This laser treatment employs light waves travelling through eyes and it also requires detailed measurement.

Topography guided LASIK:

Topography guided LASIK uses contemporary advanced mapping technologies which creates highly personal & unique treatment for eyes.

ALL- LASER LASIK:

ALL laser LASIK uses fematosecond laser to create corneal flap. It eliminates the need to touch the eye using bladed instruments.
