Vitamin A

Vitamin A is very important in keeping the eyes and body healthy. Good sources of vitamin A are cod liver oil, milk, eggs, beef or chicken liver. It is also obtained from green vegetables and colorful fruits which contain pro vitamin A.

Carotenoids

The red, orange and yellow pigments in fruits are called Carotenoids. They are also called phytonutrients (plant derived nutrients). It protects us from heart disease and also from cancer. It repairs and regenerates tissues and strengthens the immune system. It also reduces the risk of cataract and macular degeneration.

Bioflavonoids

They are a big family of natural pigments found in vegetables and fruits rich in vitamin C. Bioflavinoids rich diet reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer and macular degeneration. Recent researches on bioflavinoids also reveal that it may also lower blood pressure. Berry fruits, dark chocolates, soy and hot peppers are also some good sources of bioflavinoids.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant helps the body produce red blood cells. Studies suggest that it is important for a good vision, thereby reducing the risk of cataract and macular degeneration. Almonds and sunflower seeds are also good source of Vitamin E. It is also found in peanuts, avocado, whole grains and olive oil.
